Analytical waveform modeling

The group develops accurate analytical and numerical waveform models for inspiralling and coalescing relativistic binaries and uses them to analyze LIGO/Virgo data.

Binary systems composed of black holes and/or neutron stars, spiraling in toward each other and loosing energy because of the emission of gravitational waves are the common sources detected so far by LIGO/Virgo. The search and the analysis of these sources requires detailed knowledge of the expected signal.

Some members of the group are part of the LIGO/Virgo/Kagra (LVK) collaboration through the Virgo collaboration
